Addition and Renovation Brookline, Massachusetts
The owners of this 1920's French Norman style house needed an addition to accomodate their growing family and to shift the focus of the house from formal living rooms to casual family rooms. The focus of our design is a glass and steel stair that knits new and old together and becomes a hub for movement, communications, and organization through the house.
We included a double height garden room with a library balcony on four sides, a stone spiral stair in the corner turret, vaulted corridors, and stone floors throughout. Renovations involved a new custom kitchen and breakfast room, as well as new landscaping with rare botanical specimens. © 2003 Handlin, Garrahan, Zachos and Associates
